Sunday Worship and Weekly Refuel Bring Families Closer to Jesus Christ

Hobart Assembly Rooted Youth Ministry

Hobart Assembly, a fast-growing Assembly of God church based in Indiana, serves a congregation of more than 350 members. Hobart Assembly ensures that its programming appeals to people of all demographics and organizes several ministries specifically for children, teens, and young adults.

The Rooted Youth ministry offers activities and sermons specifically focused on topics that interest and engage adolescents in middle and secondary school.

The ministry meets for two and a half hours every Friday night, with a social hour beginning at 6 p.m. Young participants can enjoy a snack at the Rooted Cafe and play video games with their peers. The service is led by youth director Eric Sluder, who joined the church in 2014.

Youth involved in the ministry can also participate in a range of events hosted by the church, including the Mega Sports camp and mission trips. In the past, members of the youth ministry have traveled to Kentucky to serve as mentors and coaches for children living in a rural area.

Established in 1938, Hobart Assembly is a Christ-centered church located in Hobart, Indiana. Hobart Assembly welcomes people from all backgrounds and provides a diverse array of ministry programs focused on missions and outreach, marriage counseling, spiritual growth, and scriptural understanding. The church also offers programs for every age group including the midweek Refuel gathering, which is designed for the whole family.

Refuel is a discipleship service that lasts for one hour and fifteen minutes and takes place each Wednesday from September to June. The goal of this program is to provide adults and children with a firm understanding of the scriptures. The service begins with singing in the sanctuary and is followed by communion before everyone is then dismissed to their age-appropriate classes.

Differing from the church’s connect groups where people meet to connect as individuals, Refuel is focused on teaching the scriptures line by line to impart God’s word into the lives and hearts of Christ-followers. All teaching is provided in a clear, simple, and anointed manner by the church’s dedicated ministry team members.

Different Ways for Churches to Engage with the Community

Situated in Hobart, Indiana, Hobart Assembly is a church which traces its humble beginnings to 1938 under the stewardship of Rev. James Menzie has a diverse generation and ethnic congregation. Hobart Assembly has numerous community outreach programs such as an urban ministry, food pantry, Rose of Sharon ministry, and provision of clothing and food for the homeless, among many other noble causes.

The best way for a church to grow within a community and effectively spread the gospel of Christ is through engaging with the local community which can be done in the following ways.

1. Many churches have events that are hosted within their premises for their congregations. Opening up church events to the community creates an opportunity for the church to show the community how God works through the church.

2. Forming partnerships with like-minded organizations helps to build relationships with other local Christian leaders. There are projects that require money and manpower so partnerships in areas of agreement ensure more people get involved in community endeavors that honor God.

3. Churches can organize programs to help the less fortunate. They can plan trips to shelters to help in fundraising efforts, preach the gospel to shelter residents, and provide meals. This is an excellent way the church can glorify God through selflessness.

4. Participating in community cleanup helps churches in both urban and rural areas to engage directly with the community. Simple gestures such as picking up trash on community roads can go a long way to brighten the hearts of community members.

5. Churches can organize kids community funfair events to get kids entertained. Events for kids also bring together adults to these exciting events where free drinks, snacks, and toys are availed for the kids to have fun.
